Max,

The AN/ARC-27 doesn't refer to the modified BC-348.  AN/ARC-27 (and the 
unpressurized AN/ARC-55 variant) were the standard 50's vintage UHF acircraft sets.

AN/MRC-20 was one of those composite sets the US put together utilizing two 
or more existing radio sets.  It consisted of AN/ARC-3, AN/ARC-8 and AN/ARC-27 
plus PE-246 all in a common cabinet for installation in various ground 
vehicles.  AN/ARC-8 consisted of AN/ART-13A plus in this case, R-584/MRC-20.  R-584 
was a modified BC-348-R or -Q.
