[ARC5] Re: ARC-3 etc

Just been sent by a fellow collector, a sheet picturing a BC-348 with a 
noise limiter complete with Jack box J-579/MRC-20, (it has a designation 
AN/ARC-27) the receiver also has a new designation as a R-584/MRC-20. Looks 
like a J,N,Q type rx originally. What was this used for, where and what in. 
looks interesting anyone shed some light on it, 73 Max
