I can relate, Jay - my native state has been hijacked by the same
nutjobs whose approach failed elsewhere, so they move from the mess
they created to inflict the same nonsense on others.
For the life of me, I can figure out why the military hasn't just
dumped SF in favor of a more friendly port. There has to be some place
on the left coast that would be pleased and honored to host the event
in their city. The SF crowd seems to want the revenue, all the while
poking the military and government in the eye.
In stark contrast, my wife is an elementary school principal in FL.
She's been working with the athletic director who wants to schedule a
fly over during an upcoming soccer game as a tribute to the troops. Of
course, it's a private school with traditional values, not the more
typical public school financial and ethical black hole. When a newb
staff member objected based on environmental grounds, it was pointed
out that rather than a special flight, it will be scheduled as part of
regular training flights.
