Roy,
Excellent as usual!
Having toured the Collings Foundation aircraft in the past,(I have an
excellent photo of my eldest daughter, age 4, manning the waist gunner
station, port side),I was impressed by the fact that there were any
original radios on board at all.I give them due credit for that and
especially when in private conversation with one of the pilots, was
informed (14 years ago) that it cost about $100/minute to fly just the
B-17.
It's up to us,on the ground, to restore the radios of the past, wether
military or commercial. This is our hobby interest.Their's is
flying aircraft.
I haven't heard from Mike Hanz in a while, but he has been
instrumental in getting avionics back in to aircraft for display and
History at the Smithsonian. Those who can,do.
My ultimate plan for my stuff is to donate to an air museum. Hopefully
my efforts will be appreciated.
Regards,
Jay KE6PPF
