[ARC5] More information sought to fill in the blanks

Good morning (or whatever time it is locally),

Somewhere along the line, I lost track of some of the variations on
the A.R.C. Type 12 sets. What I have is as follows:

Type 10: R-10 BCB Nav Rx
Type 11: R-11 LF Nav/Com Rx, T-11 Tx
Type 12: Was this a specific set or was it only used as a generic descriptor?
Type 13: R-13 VHF Nav/Com Rx, T-13 Tx
Type 14: No reference found.
Type 15: R-15 VHF Nav/Com Rx (aka: early model AN/ARN-30)
Type 16: No reference found.
Type 17: LF Omni's last dying breath but no reference found except a
brief comment in an article.
Type 18: No reference found
Type 19: R-19 VHF Com Rx, T-13 VHF Com Tx
Type 20: R-20 Marker Beacon Rx.

And last but not least, did A.R.C. have a type designator for the AN/ARC-60?

I know there are other pieces aside from the R-30 (aka AN/ARN-59) and
the R-34 (aka: later model AN/ARN-30 … R-1021?) but I haven't filled
in all the gaps there well enough to ask. I also don't have manuals
on a few of them (the ARN-59 being a good case in point) for the nifty
detail kind of stuff folks seem to like in the tables.

Any fillers would be gratefully accepted.

In one of his articles, Gordon White discussed the NRL's modifications
to a small number of ARA/ATA sets to crystal control to improve the
stability. The receivers had two crystals each in the tub on the
front plus could be made tunable again "at the flick of a switch", all
selected using two separate relays in the receivers. So far, so good.
But space under the receiver chasses is a bit limited so where the
relays would be located has been nibbling at the back of my mind. I
know the BFO got gone in the NRL version but that seems a bit distant
for either relay without adding a huge amount of capacitance in the
process. On the other end of the stick, the transmitters were
controlled by one crystal that replaced the calibration crystal
something like the early Novice conversions pushing on 50 years ago.

Does anyone happen to have any photos of the insides of the receivers
(as in showing how the relays were positioned), complete schematics of
the receivers and/or transmitters, photos of the transmitters or any
other information on these sets? And, if so, how much groveling would
I have to do to get copies of them?

I'll get to the 3.5-7 MCs receivers as well as the RAV receivers above
9.1 MCs another time.

Best regards,

Michael
