[ARC5] My new GF-11/RU-16 set

Hi All,

I am really excited. On Friday I attended the auction at the
Carolinas Chapter of the Antique Wireless Association (CC-AWA) annual
conference and I won what I think must be a very unusual GF-11/RU-16
setup. It's a piece of unfinished plywood 24"x30" with a GF-11
transmitter, RU-16 receiver, 14V dynamotor/filter, extension control
box, antenna relay unit and junction box mounted on it. All cables
and connectors are present except the dynamotor 14V input and look to
have been professionally made a very long time ago with all white wire
sheathed in what is now an amber plastic. The part I think is
stunning is that there are eight serial numbered items, including the
two coil units and seven of the eight have the same serial number.
Only the receiver coil has a different S/N but the contract date is
the same as everything else and the receiver coil set covers the same
range as the transmitter coil set.

Do you think this could have been something the military made for a
training school? I remember someone posting that the junction boxes
were supplied by the aircraft manufacturers... or was that for the
SCR-183/283 sets?

Now I just have to clear a space for it in my radio room.

Clare
