Has anyone ever come across a C-1 or RE-1/ARR-1, outside of pictures in a manual? I own one set of the ZB equivalents, but I've never seen these components with AN/ARR-1 nomenclature. The only *commonly* used aircraft radio receivers with the required broadcast band coverage that had some chance of being used with the ZB-series or the AN/ARR-1 are:

Navy: RU-series, ARA (CBY-46145), ARB, R-24/ARC-5. Of these, only the RU-series requires use of the C-1 and RE-1, or (more likely) their ZB equivalents. The ARA, ARB, and R-24 require only the homing adapter and its mount.

USAAF: SCR-183/283 series, SCR-274-N (BC-946-B). The BC-946-B requires only the AN/ARR-1 homing adapter and its mount. The SCR-183/283 receivers would require the C-1 and RE-1, but these receivers would not work satisfactorily with the homing adapter because of their lack of a CW oscillator.

I suspect that the only common receivers using the homing adapter control box and relay were the USN's RU-series. I have some pictures of such installations.

Perhaps a few USN R-24/ARC-5 units were used with USN-contract R-1/ARR-1 units (without C-1 and RE-1), but that combo would likely have been displaced by the superior AN/ARR-2 homing receiver.

The USAAF contract AN/ARR-1 and BC-946-B units seem to have been intended only for use together, without the C-1 and RE-1. USAAF contract R-1/ARR-1 units seem always to have metal plug covers installed over the two connectors that would be used only for some other receiver type requiring the C-1 and RE-1.

In summary, I'd expect that AN/ARR-1 nomenclatured C-1, RE-1, and associated mounts are rather rare, likely made only in very small numbers for Navy use after the ZB-3 was transformed into AN/ARR-1.
