I have a BC-453 here that tells the tale 
of post-war surplus economics in just two sentances.
 
I don't know how some long-departed bean counter- 
apparently upset with careless or waste-
arrived at his figures but, stenciled on the top
of this radio in big, yellow letters is the notation:

              "THIS UNIT
                  COSTS
                 $94.00"

Under that, in pencil, some wag wrote: "Now it's 94 cents."
