The Jeep-mounted Forward Air Controllers in Korea,
known as the "Mosquitos," used two of these antennas so
mounted, one on each side of their jeep.  Looked like ears.
I helped the group restore their radio jeeps.  
The early version was an SCR-193 with
a couple of SCR-522s added.  The later version used
an AN/ARC-8 with two AN/ARC-3s.
