eBay can't help them determine the profit made on the deal, just the sales 
price.  The vast majority of my sales on eBay have lost money from what I 
originally paid.

The IRS might have a point with eBay sellers who do enough volume to be 
considered a "business".  But casual, occasional sales should not be taxed.
