HI, Folks,
I've been sitting reading contract reference 1470-NY-41 with some
interest. A large part of that interest comes from the first
paragraph of Article 16, to wit:
"Each of the following listed items, and appropriate assemblies of
those items, shall be in accordance with the respectively applicable
requirements of Confidential Navy Specification RE 13A 597, A Edition,
dated April 15, 1940, as amended by note A of this contract. The part
numbers used are as listed in paragraph 1-6 of the specification."
As a note, a good part of Note A consisted of erasing "Navy" and
replacing it "Army" although there were some technical changes as
well.
This suggests that the Navy was the first to order - or at least spec
out - a system from A.R.C., that being the ATA/ARA with the SCR-274-N
copied from it. Would anyone happen to have a copy of that
specification that they could photocopy for me (and, yes, I do pay
copying costs et al) or at least some information regarding it like
when it was released, if it was related to a contract for the first
batch of ATA/ARA sets, etc. You know, kind of like everything.
Thank you.
BEst wishes,
Michael, K3MXO/KH6
