[ARC5] R-25/ARC-5 Stabilized Receiver

   There are many imperfectly-known aspects to the employment of radio 
in WW II, but I do know Aircraft Radio Corp. sent engineers to England 
to deal with the problem of mis-tuned equipment and that the 
"stabilized" receivers were an outgrowth of that trip. I do not know 
whether they were used in fighters or bombers or just what. Maybe what 
they found in Eighth AF usage was never translated into Air Corps 
equipment and was just coincidentally incorporated into USN AN/ARC-5.  I 
have no evidence that it was incorporated into any SCR-274-N HF units. 
My comment about using the gear to 40,000 feet was just sort of a  
figure of speech, backed up the the P-51-D specs.
