Hi, folks,
One item down and a zillion more to go. I found an A.R.C. IN-10, the
indicator for the Type 15 omni/localizer system, which was just luck.
I still need the control head for an R-13 but at least I'm moving in
the right direction.
The same vendor has a rack system for the control boxes and panels
with cut out for instruments, specifically altimeters with the setting
knob in the lower left corner but I'm in no position to be real picky.
The rack has two 10" rack bays with a section between that has a
short rack beneath a large open area that looks like I might be able
to put more rails in if I can find them. A better use, though, would
probably be to cover the open area with a blank panel and use it to
hold things like jack boxes and small control boxes as needed. From
the pictures, it appears the rack stands about 15" tall which is room
enough for wiring & tuning cables and it appears to be about 17-18"
wide which is enough to hide any power supplies et al that need to be
hidden.
At the same time, I have one set of shelves up for the displays. I
went with white since it is less glossy than I remembered and will
provide a good contrast for bare metal, grey and black if I do the
lighting right. With the control box rack at the bottom rather than
occupying an upper shelf as originally planned, I have more space than
I anticipated which is always a good thing. The books are going on a
different set of shelves which adds to the available space. The end
result is I may be able to get away with one rather than two sets of
shelves for this part.
Overall, progress is being made. Once I have the kayaks back on the
lanai so I can get to the equipment again (They're painting the lanais
so I have an apartment full of things like kayaks and planter racks.),
I can start putting pieces up to see where I am and where it all will
go. That should be fun.
Best regards,
Michael
