John,

I got mine with the same modification, and eventually I got a junk
RT-91/ARC-2 and got the original antenna insulator/post off it to restore
the complete set. I even managed to find the connectors (alas, no mounting
tray...) for both the ARC-2 and the ARR-15 receiver.
I use either an outboard active audio filter or an outboard audio DSP box
when I use the ARC-2, and it is usable on CW that way. I never used it on
AM.
It puts out a solid 40 W. Although the ARR-15 receiver looks somewhat like
the ARC-2, they were never used together, but I was thinking about setting
them up side by side and use the ARC-2 just for transmit, and receive with
the ARR-15. The preset frequencies can be coordinated between them so with
one control switch they both can be pretuned to the frequencies of
interest, i.e.: nets...
In fact, my plan is to set up one ART-13 with the ARR-15 (correct) while
another will work with the BC-348.
Interesting that not only that the Russians cloned the ART-13 and BC-348,
later they made a remote controlled BC-348 with a pilot's control box and
servos mounted on the front panel instead of the dial mechanism. They also
made another receiver, the RPS with the ARR-15 functionality but not the
frequency conversion scheme, which also had 10 preselectable channels to
work with the R-807/RSB-70 (Russian ART-13).
They never made anything like the ARC-2.
