The original Command receivers were designed to cover eight
frequency ranges from 190 kc to 27 mc. To my knowledge only fifty of the
complete eight-receiver sets were built, under nomenclature RAV. Some of
these have actually surfaced. The most rare receiver is the 9-13.5 mc
model. I have only seen one, and it was pretty much a wreck. I have
heard that these were used early in the War in patrol blimps. The RAT
and RAT-1 receivers covered 13.5-20 and 20-27 mc. The more common
SCR-274-N and AN/ARC-5 receivers ran from 190 kc to 9.1 mc, plus crystal
controlled vhf sets and tuneable vhf receivers, 100-125 and 125-156 mc.
There were various rather minor differences in the receivers under
the various different nomenclature.
Some hand-built Type K receiver prototypes had slightly different
frequency ranges.
