Here are the photo sources of radar and radio intallations in PT Boats
that I have so far if anyone is interested:
PT Boats at War,World War II to Vietnam by Norman Palmar and Samuel
Morison,softcover,MBI Publishing Co.,ISBN-0-7603-0499-8.This book shows
only a close up of the scope section of the the SO series radar.
American PT Boats in World War II by Victor Chun, hardcover,Schiffer
Publishing Ltd.,ISBN-0-7643-0256-6.This book shows two configurations
of the TCS.One is a side by side set up with the Tx to the right and
the Rx on the left of a "horseshoe" table with the key in between. The
AN/ARC-4 is above and to the right of the TCS Tx and in a little
"cubby".(not water proof). On the bulkhead are mounted various boxes
including the antenna loading coil for the TCS.I do not recognize any
of the other boxes. This photo is coutesy of Robert Ferril.
On the same page is a photo of a TCS set in the verticle mount
configuration.Tx on top of RX with the antenna loading coil on the
bulkhead above.
Also on this page is a photo of the radar, the SO, and the TCS receiver
of the first photo to the right of it.This shows both decks of the
radar set.All electronics are in the "Chart Room".This photo is also
courtesy of Robert Ferril.
You should see the pictures of the Engines..........!!!!!Gawd! all
hobbies in one craft!I did not see any deep water fish poles or
fighting chairs and harness but I'd bet some Boats had them stashed
away!
