Michael:

I was thinking the same thing. My impression was that a very low ripple, well regulated power supply was a good thing.

I'm glad I read this endorsement because now I know better. I can now go back to designing power supplies with a lot of ripple and poor regulation because we all know they sound better.

Thanks,

Hmmm ...

And in that endorsement is:

How does one hear a rectifier ... aside from the terminal arc over
that comes now and then? And what the ehck is a sound stage in this
application of the term:

Sophia Electric(tm) 274B tube is a premium rectifier tube for a
5U4/5R4/5AR4* direct replacement with 3X longer plate structure, thus
it has a deeper, wider sound stage and even smoothier sound than
Mullard 5AR4.

Have we missed out on something *wonderful* all this time?

Best regards,

Michael, K3MXO/KH6 ... somewhat confused about all this stuff ...
