According to a WWII USAAF radio tech I know who serviced many SCR-522 sets in the ETO, apparently these sets often needed re-tuning and other adjustments.  Regardless, it was for a while the best command set in USAAF service, from a pilot's point of view, until the AN/ARC-3 came along.
