[ARC5] Questions that need answers

It seems to me that when Hams sell stuff on eBay something happens to them.
Maybe not all of them, but mostly the ones that I ask questions to. I am not
a Ham. I am a collector. It is like I am a person that is not worthy of
their time or knowledge and they tend to blow me off. If I ask 3 or 4
questions about their radio equipment they may answer the first one and
never answer the rest of them. It happens so much that I am now taking a
different view of them. I think that they are not smart enough to answer the
questions. Not smart enough to remove 4 screws and look inside and interpret
what they see and relay the information back. It is either that or they
don't care and if a Ham does not care then Hams will die out because that
kills the interest of those wanting to become Hams. Now that I have that out
of my system I will ask my questions here where I always get answers and the
people seem to be knowledgeable, smart and caring.

It would have been better to have gotten the answers about the specific
equipment for sale, but I can forget biding on it and concentrate on fixing
the equipment that I have. I doubt very seriously that I am the only one
that has ever wanted to know the answer to these questions and I definitely
know that someone on this list has the answers.

My questions deal with the Adapter that plugs into the front of the
SCR-274-N Command Receivers or ARC-5 receivers. All of my receivers have
what must be the Ham conversion on the FT-260-A adapter (I don't have the
literature on this conversion). There is a pot, a switch and a headset jack
added. Upon removing the 4 screws and looking inside I find that the socket
on the FT-260-A has been removed and all the wiring added to the pot,
switch and headset jack is just tightly wound around the pins of the socket
of the receiver. Thank God none of them are soldered to the pins. I guess it
was too much trouble to determine if their receiver listed on eBay was wound
in, soldered in or had a socket so it would plug in. Everyone can remove a
million screws and remove all the covers and plates and take pictures of it
dissected, but no one can remove the 4 screws and answer that question. I am
sorry. I did not mean to start on that again.

Where is what I want to know. Is there a plug in adapter that has the
switch, pot and headset jack that is factory so it can be plugged in and
unplugged? If not is there any sockets available with enough connection that
can be used to replace the one in it with only two connections in the
FT-260-A so that I can make my own? Here is what I want to do. I want to add
a switch, pot, headset jack and a socket with enough connectors to an
existing FT-260-A or convert another FT type adapter to do the same or find
a replacement socket with enough connectors to finish out the ones in the
receivers that I already have. My goal is to have one adapter that I can
plug into any receiver and test it without having to put it into a rack to
do it. So does anyone have the adapter for sale or know where I can get the
socket?

Thanks in advance.

Floyd
