Though I have not yet investigated the manufacture of these sets,
the manuals indicate they saw service in training aircraft and 
in ferrying operations.  Just about any period 
hand-portable, battery operable radio that could receive aircraft coms 
saw service in ferrying operations, and some were built specifically
with that service in mind.  Through the kindness of a far better friend
than I deserve, I have both LF and HF versions of these radios
in my "Ferrying" collection.
