>From information I received from Gordon White, I believe the RU-2
came before the SCR-AA-183. My thinking is as follows:
The orginal GF set had both transmitter and receiver and was a lot
like the SCR-183, in that it used the automotive tubes, 5 pin tubes
such as UY-236 etc and had no BFO.
The RU-2 was retrofitted to the GF set. Later GF sets were only
transmitters.
I received from Gordon White a copy of a report written in 1931
detailing the Navy's experience with the RU-2
If the RU-2 existed in 1931, that implies there was a RU-1 and a RU
My guess is the RU was pre-1930
This is just my thinking. Comments please

Very important:
I have a copy of a Navy publication dated "revised in 1931" listing
Navy radio equipments as of this date. I would like to see someone
put it on his web site, so all can get this information which is very
interesting to collectors and historians. I can no longer upload material
to my web site on QSL.net other wise I would use my own web site.
