[ARC5] Glass to metal glue?

All,
  What would be a good glue to use to afix a dial glass to the dial 
cover for a BC-348-*?The original adheasive looked like silver paint 
and I have no idea what it was. I suppose epoxy would work but it's too 
messy if you don't get it right the first time. Crazy glue might work 
for a while but the dial lamp heat might make it crumble over 
time.Contact cement is one possibility but I don't know how it acts 
under heat and it too is messy. "Ambroid" all purpose cement is what 
I'll end up trying if no one else has used something they know works 
well.
