That's an adapter that I've always found interesting, by virtue of there not being many around, and because I've never seen any clue that it saw much if any service use.  It was designed to connect either the R-23 or R-24/ARC-5 as the localizer receiver for the USN's short-lived Air Track ILS system (ZA and AN/ARN-9).  That's the ILS to which the AN/ARC-5 manuals refer.  The USAAF's SCS-51 ILS was much superior and quickly crushed the Air Track ILS. 

Has anyone ever come across major components or a manual for the AN/ARN-9?
