I don't understand that "aardvaark" reference, but I have several late-WWII equipment manuals that specify use of CASSF-50-1 or RG-8/U.  I believe that CASSF-50-1 is the USN's pre-JAN designation for RG-8/U.  I have a USN R-64/ARW-17 that came with a small length of such coax and it looks like RG-8/U to me.

The OD of RG-8/U is .405 in.
