Wow on $25 per for the things in one auction AND another closing near
there. Fact
tubes in 'taddered boxes' seems to cause a $$$ uptick.

There's just no accounting for taste

Two things

>1600 series were 12V versions of regular stuff. Example 1625 & 807

That's an example & other stuff falls there like 1631 & 6L6. But as often
they were
types selected for special attributes. Like 1620 is low noise 6J7. The
popular rough-svc.
6L6 is the 1614 which McIntosh audio loved.

And u can't sub a 12J5 in a command set for a 1626 since latter has .25A
filament rather
than .15A. & that messes up the in-series 1629 eye - unless set converted
fm to
the parallel filament religion fm the 24V faith. When the audio mod squad
eat up
the last of the 1626s, we've still got 12SN7s with 2 tweaks, huh?

>6J5 ain't what it's 'sposed to be since one grid rather than 3 tied
together.

Someone's thinking the 6C5. If you look @ a metal one you'll see an outer
resemblance
to a 6K7. If you can find a 6C5GT, the whole story looks u back in the face.
