I think because the SCR-274N nomenclature was such a bastard, it really
never gelled. SCR-274-A did gel, but as everyone knows, did not make a
noticable impact, being a different set.

This is also how all those Americanized British radars came into being
(SCR-527, SCR-588, and so forth).
