Dave provides a very complete rundown of the series in this note. More
info at http://aafradio.org/flightdeck/RAT.htm for anyone who hasn't
seen them, /including/ a link to the Type K receivers that Gordon
referred to in his notes. In a 1937 drawing that Gordon was kind enough
to send me, the four Type K receivers are shown as part of a complete
receiver/transmitter system (similar to the ATA/274N/ARC-5 suite). The
drawings and Navy contract number are marked CONFIDENTIAL (roughly
equivalent to today's SECRET designation) and never purchased beyond
prototype quantities, so it's no wonder that the complete system is
relatively unknown. As far as I know, only the receivers that Gordon
donated to the Smithsonian still survive from this set. These are Type
K Model 2 receivers, somewhat later than the Type K Model 1 that Gordon
also donated. I haven't had time to photograph those yet, but they will
be part of the avionics exhibit planned for next year (hopefully.)

73,
Mike
