Or sabotage their Geiger counters while having some pre-tour coffee?  

I'm curious to know about the different substances used in meters.
Somewhere along the line they changed from the typical yellow/brown
appearing radium on older instruments like the antenna relay units to
a brighter green, and also a blueish-violet. I have an R-390A with odd
meters, one of which is green and one that appears to be a newer,
sealed meter with the blueish glow. Did the gov't swap from radium at
some point and go to some other substance? They did seal the meter,
something not done on the earlier radium types.

The blue meters tend to stay 'lit' longer in the dark, too. Better
material or simply newer and not as aged?

Just wondering...
