I thought you all might like this e-mail that I received. I would sure like
to buy this guy a beer or two and listen to more stories.

What flash backs came to me as I took in your Web Site.  I claim to be the
only Commissioned Airborne Radio Operator (US Army Air Corps - 95th Bomb Gp
(h).  (Please don't think me 'Big Headed').  I came up 'through-the-ranks'
and as a 'Shave-tail 2nd Lt. was an original member of the
'First-over-Berlin' gang who built the 95th back in 1942.

The SCR-522 was not around during my one year tour with the 8th at
Framlingham then Horam. Do you recall 'The Horval Boxes' developed by some
RAAF airman?  I built two in a Nisson Hut just like the radio room in a
B-17.  Our G.I. radio operators were cycled thru these to maintain their
proficiency and heckle  Jerry. Our B-29s still had the SCR 274's.  It was
only in 1950 I got up to my ears in com problems with the SCR-522. (Korea)

I -my troops - installed the first ART-13 in the 58th Bomb Wing (vh) 40th
Bomb Gp (VH) B-29s at Chakulla India in 1944.  The Russians got it when '
The Hap Arnold', diverted to Caviar that night.

At 85 not many of us around these days.  I plan to attend the 95th Show
2006.
The Dear Lord willing and the Creeks don't run dry.

You are doing a great job.

Sincerely

Jim Gibson Ford
Lt. Col U.S.A.F. (ret)

Thanks,
