My guess is that they seem more civilian/commercial and less military
in nature. Also the gray isn't anywhere near as attractive IMHO as the
black wrinkle, which really sets off the shiney screw heads, locking
clips, and tags. I like the later units, they're just more industrial
in appearance (no dials, for example). Like robot radios.

WWII gear is a lot easier for folks to identify with as well, either
from having been there and used it, having an interest in the rich
history, or remembering the days of surplus gear and feeling
nostalgic.

I have a few pieces of it here, but I don't seek it out as actively as
the ARC-5 and ARA/ATA pieces that I still need. In fact, I still need
to compile a list of the AAF SCR-274N pieces I'm using to see if
anyone wants to trade for ARC-5 or ARA/ATA equivalents. Maybe the lack
of interest in the Type 12 stuff is more of a time issue as in 'so
many projects, so little time'?
