Please have a look at the capacitor on the right in the following pictures:

This is the 3X.22 uF (C16) out of my mod monster BC-454 receiver. This
doesn't match the drawings and photos in the manuals and I am wondering
whether this is a stock unit or something else. I removed it to check it and
it seems fine but was oozing goo at one time before I acquired the receiver.
All the other tub types have mica terminal plates like the unit on the left
in the photos. BTW, that one on the left is one of the electrolytics. I took
all three out to check them. All read considerably higher in capacitance
than spec'd (100% or more) but seemed quite leaky. That one, for example,
drew about 0.5 mA at 95 VDC across it.
Now as to the three terminal cap tub, as you can see, it is very similar in
design but the terminal plate is soldered in place instead of having the lip
folded over (like is done with the mica). If this is a repack job, it sure
was done well. The rim shows no sign of being reworked.
Anyone recognize that cap as "proper" (I can't read the markings)?
Brad
