John,
The crystals in the ARC-5 series transmitters are not for controlling the
frequency but spot calibrate the VFO dial. There is a magic eye tube in the
transmitter, which is the tuning tool for zeroing the VFO on the crystal
frequency.
I don't remember off-hand the crystal frequency for all the transmitters,
the only one I remember is that the 3-6 MHZ transmitter has a 3.5 MHZ
calibration crystal.
