Hi Dave and everyone else,
Thank you for the URL. One of my BC-375 tuning units has a stenciled B-24M
1944 serial number and I was able to find that the plane was converted to a
photo reconnaissance F-7b.
Regarding the BC-AR-230, I have two of them. One came without tubes and
the other came with four good 10Y tubes installed. I would like to get one
of the transmitters working someday, just for fun. I have not been
successful in getting a dynamotor yet but in the ultimate could use my
0-555VDC 300ma regulated supply. I could then say I had 807s on the air
since the PS uses three of them as series regulators :-)
I have four ordinary 45 tubes and am wondering if it'd be better to just
use the four 10Ys in the transmitter or to use the 45 tubes in place of the
VT-52s with a series resistor or separate supply to get the correct
filament voltages. Anybody have any experience with this? Any problems
with these transmitters other than the obvious MOPA chirp, FM, etc.?
Obviously the audio people have caught on to the VT-52 and the VT-25 as
usable for their amp projects. I wonder what they do with the transmitters
if they win these auctions? Thank goodness Mike Feher won the last one I
saw.
