Not necessarily true.

1.  Do you think paying $10 in 1955 was an outrageous price for a radio? How
much is that $10 worth in today's money? $200 + IMO. In fact, many items are
cheaper in constant dollars.

2.  Please tell me where else one can get any particular radio for $2.29? I
looked at every area flea market for two decades and was never able to find the
gear that I wanted. Now my collection is essentially complete, thanks to on-line
auctions.

An item is worth what a willing buyer will pay a willing seller.
