I agree. BC-696s are not too uncommon.
Save your strength for the one you find that's still intact,
or more nearly so.  However- if you just want to tinker,
that's a good one.

What's your opinion of carefully disconnecting bad parts
and "tacking in" replacements, with the goal that the rig
is restorable to original, save solder joints?
