On this...

} It's actually better if you deactivate the antenna relay.
} Just unsolder one lead and roll the coiled contact around
} so it stays connected all the time.  It will certainly key
} with that relay switching, but it's faster and less noisy
} if you don't use it.

It's been years since I hacked into one of those.  Mebbe 40+.  But I thot
the "antenna relay" was just selected by the tx control box & not the
key line.

In acft I've seen all TX antenna leads pictured as tagged together.
Key line sure cud select OK & thing'd be electrically consistant, but
whatta rattler!

My 274N hf book out on loan so only way to confirm is turn a complete 
one over & look.

If that antenna relay up-front/up-top cycles w. key - wow,  Dave ur 
advice FB
