[ARC5] Screws for ARC-5s

I don't think they used Zinc plated screws in  the ARC-5s. Cadmium, yes. Nickel over
brass for sure.

Zinc over steel can be stripped trivially. Either dilute HCl (hydrochloric acid) or
NH4NO3 (ammonium nitrate) will strip it in a couple of minutes. The latter can be
gotten from used medical 'instant cold packs' . Mild steel can then be blackened
with a solution available for gun blackening. It's NOT the same as the original
oxide, but not bad.

IF you can find the screws in brass (difficult) they can be blackened also. See an
old edition of the CRC Handbook or a 'handyman's' manual from the 30s or 40s.
