[ARC5] ARC-5 Transmitter

The ARC-5 (7-9.1) I am trying to resuscitate was found with relays 
already removed. To get this operational I assume I would not need to 
replace these relays again. What were these relays for and, for those 
who are using these units in their original condition, how do you use 
or override these relays.

I did notice that in the article "Converting Surplus Transmitters For 
Novice Use" that they have you remove all the relays. That and other 
similar articles is probably why I have found a couple of these old 
units with relays already removed. What would be my motivation to 
track down relays and put them back in?

For units that still have relays intact, I assume it is best to leave 
them alone, but what do you do with them?
