[ARC5] ARR-2 on the air

Hi all

Just put an AN/ARR-2 system together, the receiver, rack, control box, and fired off the TS-24
test oscillator to check it out.

Actually, quite anticlimactic, the receiver fired right off, and could hear the BFO tune through
the passband just as it was supposed to. The TS-24 came up on 245.97 mHz, I don't know if
that was a standard operating frequency or not. I just wanted to make sure that the unit
was nowhere near 243.0. In any case I did NOT put the little test antenna on the TS-24.

Tuned the receiver to the TS-24 frequency, and once I discovered the channel numbers are
off by one between the oscillator and receiver, could hear the beat note just fine. Don't know
why they are off, I don't think the TS-24 was ever in service, so may have never been calibrated.

Of course, this is of no practical use whatsoever in todays world, but it should make for
an interesting display at the next MRCG. Now if some one would bring the shipboard side,
was that the YG?
