[ARC5] R113

That was an developmental tube produced for ARC evaluation, Chris. I
know of no direct substitute though I *did* do some looking for
operational use in my own R-112 and R-113 (it would worry me to wear out
a tube that likely only still exists in the several dozens today.) I
can send you a drawing if you wish to manufacture your own. :-)

The conclusion I finally reached was to replace it with a 12A6, tacking
in a couple of solid state replacements for the detector diodes (1N34's
seem to work fine for this and are contemporary enough to keep the radio
from getting hives from the non-toob substitute). Part of the rationale
for this decision was the choice by ARC to stick with the 12A6 for their
almost identical next generation of the R-113, the R-19 in the ARC Type
12 series. Though not built with the impressive quality of the VHF
prototypes, the R-19 has many design elements in common with them.

Best 73,
Mike
