There are several vendors that can sell you good copies of the SCR-274-N 
documentation, that include the schematics and tuning information for 
the BC-696-A.  Fairradio sales is one of them, but W7FG Vintage manuals 
and The Raymond Sarrio Company have the documents for better prices. 
 There are also several people who provide the documentation on CD-ROM 
if you can handle it that way; the docs are PDF files.  A vendor I have 
used is Philip Mills, W5BVB, and there are others who regularly show up
