[ARC5] GF-11 in airplanes

Hi all

I recently reread Dave Stinson's essay on GF transmitters now posted on the SMECC website, and
also posted on this reflector back in June.

One of the things Dave mentioned is that:

" The popular GF-11/RU-16 set produced by Western Electric
in 1941 was, in fact, not acquired as an aircraft set,
even though the nomenclature plate lists it as such.
Ships 242A specs it for Marine Corps ship installations,
and Hue has documentation on its installation in a
     mechanized artillery vehicle. "

However, I have a GF-11 coil set with acceptance tags from
Eastern Aircraft Corporation for a model FM-1.

Eastern Aircraft was the aircraft division of General Motors, and
the FM-1 was the General Motors built Grumman Wildcat. As Grumman
needed factory space for building the F6F Hellcat, production of the
Wildcat was transferred to General Motors. (The Grumman TBF
Avenger torpedo bomber was also built by General Motors under the
designation TBM).

So it appears that at least some of the GF-11/RU-16 sets wound up
in aircraft.

But a couple of questions pop up:

The GF-11 was a 12V set. When did the services convert from 12 to 24V electrical
systems? As far as I know, all the SCR-274N, ATA/ARA sets were 24V, and were in
production well before our entry in WWII, but this GF-11 coil set has tags dated
October 1943.

Does anyone have any other evidence of aircraft installations of the GF-11 RU-16 set?

Thanks
