Well, there are several ways to reach out and contact people who might be
interested in a list dedicated to a particular radio without being obnoxious. I
don't see a narrow focus list competing with a general interest list like this.
There is a place for both.

For example, many of us also subscribe to the ARC-5 list, but I can't recall
seeing any posts about OPERATING ARC-5 gear. AFAIK, there is no regularly
scheduled ARC-5 net. There have been no posts about such a net that I can
recall. This is not meant as a criticism, but is an observation of fact. (I
don't have a working ARC-5 transmitter anyway) Wouldn't it be fun to operate a
command set or liaison set net?

ArmyRadios, OTOH, does have a significant operating content, and there are
regular nets.

Your opinions may vary,

BTW, this has gone a long way off topic. My original question was about what
server to use, not whether a specific list is a good idea. It seems like the
choice is Yahoo or QTH. I sought opinions about the virtues and vices of each Is
he ability to send things other than text really worth while? Is a place to post
pics important to people?

Opinions welcome.
