Stranded... stuff a little like solder wick or thin braid, only
round. Quite flexible, essential to reduce breakage due to
vibration. Ever been in a WW-II aircraft in flight?

The beaded wire I have that came from my 1944 GO-9 transmitter had special
ends on it that fit the hardware on the insulators.. the hardware thing
is just like the top of an automotive spark plug. The wire end was
slipped over the fitting and snapped in place.

The standoffs normally had bolts through the center, with either push type
connectors such as is on the receiver, or the above mentioned spark-plug
like tip.
