[ARC5] ARC 5 Stuff

I think what happened is that, the time from the original hype, till the
real facts came out, we realized there was no need for the hype. A lot of us
collect ARC-5 type of stuff. I have been doing so for over 30 years. At this
point the only thing I would even consider is something that was totally
unmodified and in perfect condition or close to it, unless, it was really
really rare. I recently took about 20 or more ARC-5 pieces to a hamfest that
had a lot of military collectors attending. These were good sets but far
from mint. They consisted of receivers, transmitters, modulators and
dynamotors. I wound up selling one receiver at a close to give away price.
The rest came back home with me. I'll keep them for parts. When you made
your original post of course every one got excited as at that time there was
no other information other than you amassed a lot of ARC-5 related
equipment. I think we were all hoping for the best. As the rest of the story
kept on unfolding, it became evident that the equipment was, while some of
it maybe ARC-5 related, mostly only good for parts. I think that is when the
interest level dropped. At least that is my opinion. Thanks for your
efforts. 73 - Mike
