We've noted here before that, just because something
is accepted as "historic fact," it ain't necessarily so.

This page is an excerpt from the official U.S. Airforce
history of the Airforce in Korea.  They call the 
SCR-522 radios- which were fitted in the 
forward air controller jeeps early in the conflict-
"AN/ARC-1" and describe them as a 4-channel radio
(which the SCR-522 is).  Later in the article, they 
say directly that the VHF component of this set is "SCR-522."

This was researched and published by competent and 
respected historians.  It has been recently republished.
But they are people, too, and subject to error.
"History" is always going to be debateable.  
Never say "never" in these matters.
