Fellow Military Enthusiasts,
After dreaming of my first novice rig for over 44 years, I finally
acquired an almost mint T-22/ARC5 (7-9.1 Hhz) with that incredible black
crinkle finish I remember so well.
Unfortunately, that's *all* I remember. My elmer was the one who did
the magic that enabled me to crank out a powerful 35-50 watts (?) on 40
meters, and I haven't a clue what he did beneath the chassis of that
magic box. We built a simple full-wave rectifier power supply for it;
that much I remember. The schematic came straight from the 1957 "The
Radio Amateur's Handbook."
I found a copy of the "Surplus Conversion Handbook," in the CQ Technical
Series, thinking it would help me get the T-22 back on the air, but the
articles don't really lay it all out for me.
What I hope someone can point me to is a fairly straightforward magazine
article or book that would take me by the hand and show me exactly what
I need to do to get the T-22 on 40 meter cw. I know there are
schematics of the ARC-5 in several places on the internet, but I haven't
found a conversion article.
I can research back issues of QST on the internet and hopefully find an
article that will fill the bill, but I'm hoping that one of you will cut
down on the time required to do this by pointing me to the appropriate
source of information. Oh, yes...I'd like to do the very *minimum*
required to make the old "gal" sing again.
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
73,
Ron - K5MVR (Nostalgia strikes again!)
