Yes- By 1944, radio used in the Americas
had four common channels referred to
as "VHF-A," VHF-B" etc.
VHF-A 116.1 Tactical Radio
VHF-B 126.18 American Common Frequency (VHF Towers)
VHF-C 128.16 Army Airways Common VHF Freq.
Can't find my book with "D" in it, but it was in the
130 MC area and was dedicated to DFing. Of course,
there were few VHF DF stations as of 1944 in the Americas.
