The information provided by Taigh Ramey certainly was interesting.
Here's some additional data:
The numbers you provided for the double tuned IF transformers in
your "BC-455" receiver are A.R.C.'s drawing numbers for the IF
transformers in an R-27/ARC-5 receiver, whose IF's ARE double
tuned. That is probably the receiver you have. You should find a
12SG7 among the tubes.
The bright aluminum capacitors with ceramic seals are the type used
in A.R.C.'s Type-12 and later radio equipment. These capacitors
have a higher working voltage rating than the older units with mica
seals. As did the mica seals, the ceramic seals will leak when
provoked. You might check them before you fire up your receiver.
