[Antennas] Think I've got this figured out, Re: AM Broadcast RX Antenna?

: It may have a characteristic impedance of 200, but it's only a few feet
and
: the impedance mismatch between it and
: the antenna and the radio is not a consideration. The characteristic it's
: selected for is low capacitance per foot.

This may be an issue. The co-ax in my installation will be about 15 feet in
length.

I planned to use what I had on-hand, RG-8X.

I can use most anything, what would be better without having to run power to
an amplifier?

Thinking about an amp... We have trouble with static here. Not from tires,
but from the dust and ionized snow. Would prefer to stay away from an amp.
At times it gets so bad I've been considering aircraft static wicks on the
vehicles.

I DO NOT want to use anything with the foil shielding, that stuff is a major
pain in the butt to solder and the last stuff I used swelled to almost twice
its size from the heat, nothing but trouble.
